INFORMATION QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What can I expect for the first session?

As an introductory session, this will be centred around discussing the struggles you are currently facing, your hopes for support and any goals you may have. It is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, to talk about you, and essentially, what is bringing you to therapy. It is normal to feel some anxiety going into the session and many people feel as though a weight has been lifted after the session is over.

How are the sessions conducted?

We are currently only offering virtual therapy sessions, all of which are conducted through Google Meets. A link for the session will be emailed to you after you have booked an appointment.

Please be advised that access to a private and confidential space is required for all appointments.

What are the hours?

We are currently offering evening time appointments only.

What are the fees?

Our rates are currently 175.00$ per individual therapy session. We also offer 15 minute phone consultation appointments, free of charge.

What type of payments do we accept?

We accept all major credit cards as methods of payments.

What is involved in the 15 minute phone consultation?

The phone consultation appointment is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have before booking an individual therapy session, and to get a better sense as to whether it would be the right fit. Due to the short time frame of this appointment, a phone consultation is not a therapy session.

Will I receive homework or reading to do in between sessions?

Any homework, practice with skills, or reading done in between sessions will help in maximizing your progress. Your schedule, personal situations and readiness will always be considered prior to any expectations or recommendations set outside of the sessions. We are flexible and believe in doing what is right for you.

What is the cancellation policy?

We require 48 hours notice prior to cancellations. Any cancellations within this time frame, will not be processed. Any cancellations prior to this time frame, will be fully refunded.

Will my insurance cover the sessions?

Your insurance company may provide you with coverage for our sessions. Although we do not do direct billing to insurance companies, you will receive an invoice that can be provided to your insurance company for the means of reimbursement at a later date/time.

What is a clinical specialist?
A clinical specialist holds an additional level of social work registration, which allows members of this class to offer sessions specialized in mental health and addiction therapy practices. On top of the experience, education and training required for this license, we have undergone extensive supervision and consultation hours with a focus on specializing in mental health and addiction and its impacts on individuals and families.

Can I receive a diagnosis?

Although a formal diagnosis is out of my scope of practice, I can offer comprehensive assessments with the use of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (fifth edition). I can provide a clinical impression based on your described symptoms and overall presentation.
